## Description
Red Death was a potent disease which traveled far and wide to many different regions of Yanis. The diseases precise origin is unknown but it is believed to have had some connection to the Undead. Some sages and wisemen believe that Red Death is a thing of the past but others fear it could come back.
## Cause
When a humanoid creature is comes into airborne particles of Red Death or when they make direct contact with particles of it on another creature's skin that carries the disease, the creature must succeed on a DC 18 Constitution saving throw or become infected. Red Death incubates slowly—another contributing factor to its high mortality rate—and most infected individuals don't know they're infected until weeks or even months later.
## Affliction(s)
It takes 4d10 days for Red Death's symptoms to manifest in an infected creature. Symptoms include brilliant (almost incandescent-looking) crimson veins and violent fits of coughing which often result in expelling blood. The infected creature suffers a minus 1 penalty to their constitution ever 1d10 days after symptoms begin to manifest. Once the infected creature's constitution score reaches 0, the creature dies.
## Cure
Red Death cannot be cured by medicinal means (to modern alchemists', herbalists', and healers' knowledge). The disease must be cured magically. The lack of a medicinal cure makes large outbreaks of Red Death nearly impossible to deal with.
