# Humanoids
Humanoids are the main peoples of this world. Both civilized and savage, humanoid creatures include a variety of species. Some humanoid species have innate magical abilities others must learn to weave magic, and all have a bipedal form.
## Ancient Humanoid Species
These lineage of these ancient humanoid species pre-date most life on Yanis. Their origins are widely unknown to most but it is highly speculated that their ancestors originated from worlds across [[The Astral]].
### Fæyan Origins
Dwarves, elves, gnomes, and halflings were originally created by ancient, godly beings called _æres_ or _'true elves'_. The first dwarves, elves, gnomes, and halflings, escaped the dying world of Fæya and journeyed across The Astral for millennia in search of a new world to call home.

Dragonborn, half-dragon, and kobold are all byproducts of dragons. Dragonborn and kobold being magically created by dragons on the world Hꜽðan. Half-dragons were first conceived as the offspring of dragons (taken humanoid form), and other humanoids. Each species in this category shares some resemblance and genetic likeness to dragons.

### Runic or Giant Origins
Djinn, firbolg, and goliath are descendants of giants. They are sometimes called half-giants or runechildren as the giant-creator deities, mæggen, were said to create the first arcane runes and infused giant blood with runic energy. Djinn and goliath are direct descendants of giants where firbolg are a hybrid species offspring of half-giants and elves.

## Extraplanar Humanoid Species
%%Extraplanar humanoids are often called The Endowed, or Endowed for short. It is believed that aasimar, kalashtar, and tieflings are the results of interbreeding or magically bonding with beings from other planes.
####
Endowed are speculated to have originated in their respective planes (e.g. aasimar from [[Euphoria]], kalashtar from [[The Plane of Reverie]] or [[The Plane of Nightmares]], and tieflings from [[Agony]], etc.). Regardless, all of these species would not exist if not for extraplanar influences.%%

### Elemental Origins
%%There are several more elementals on the elemental planes; but, these four are the most human and are (by far) the most civilized. Igira are from [[The Plane of Elemental Fire]], pygmies, [[The Plane of Elemental Earth]], sylphs hail from [[The Plane of Elemental Air]], and finally, undine are tied to [[The Plane of Elemental Water]]. Each has supernatural abilities due to their spiritual bond with the elemental planes and their magically infused blood. %%

## Ill-Fate Humanoid Species
%%The 'Ill-Fates' are a group of humanoids that have suffered a horrible curse, or *fate*, forever changing their psychology and physiology. Each ill-fate is unique, but, their origins all share a commonality: twisted magic. Some species under the ill-fate category are the first of their lineage to be an ill-fate; others, can come from a long line of ill-fates. For example, a hexblood or shifter could have been a regular humanoid race before receiving their curse, while a dhampir could come from long line of half-vampires.%%

## Native & Natural Humanoid Species
%%Yanis-natives and natural humanoids have all come to exist through means of evolution. They are the true children of Yanis. Many of these species, such as, merfolk, lizardfolk, and tortles, have existed since the [[Viriditas Phase]] of Yanis' formation, which occurred several million years ago.%%

## New-Age Humanoid Species
%%Humans and felis are the two youngest/newest races introduced to Yanis—both only having been on Yanis for only a few thousand years. These beings began falling to Yanis as shooting stars a little over 3,000 years ago and are called 'the tears of the gods' by some civilizations. Some believe humans and felis were created by the gods to become the new, dominate species on the planet. Others believe they are a threat to species that have lived here long before they did.
Either way, these races seem to have unique relationships with magic. Humans typically struggle with magic. They are rarely able to learn it and even more rarely able to manipulate it innately. Felis, on the other hand, are exceptional with magic and tend to be natural weavers. Despite their varying degrees of affinity with magic, both species are exceptional survivalists and adapt quick to changes in their environment.
Though they may be incredible survivalists, they have much shorter life spans that most humanoids and thusly are often treated as inferior by other humanoids.%%

## Vile Humanoids (Vulgari)
Humanoids that are pushing the boundaries of what's considered an 'ill-fate' or humanoid creature are listed below. These humanoids are considered vulgar or vile. Whether through some twisted magic, an incredibly powerful curse, mutation, or some other means, these creatures are all barely considered 'human'. Their violent, savage mannerisms, norms, uncontrollable greed, or obsession with death drives them. Beware when encountering the following humanoids:
