They are the draconic species most closely related to dragons. They tend to have a much more optimistic view on dragons, and draconic deities (such as Xymorghxr, Kereskagghxr, etc.). Dragonborn are perhaps best known for the massive arcane dragonborn city, [[Okarthel]], [[Datha]]. Datha, sometimes called **_The Dragoon Peninsula_**, is steeped in draconic history and culture. Over the years, a younger draconic species, [[Half-Dragon|half-dragons]], have become increasingly aggressive towards dragonborn. The two species seem to be natural enemies and do not get along. Despite this ongoing conflict with half-dragons and a dozen other enemies, dragonborn of modern day have managed to become extremely intelligent, sapient beings. --- ### Appearance & Biology Dragonborn, like their namesake, are the most dragon-looking of the three draconic humanoid species on Yanis. They have ancestral scales that deeply connect them to their draconic ancestors of the same type. For example, a blue scaled dragonborn would closely resemble and adopt traits from their blue dragon ancestor from which they inherited said scales. Additionally, dragonborn can have damage resistances and breath attacks that deviate from their scale color if their parents or ancestors have a particular elemental association. For example, a white dragonborn girl may have an acidic breath attack if one of her parents or grandparents descended from acid breathing dragons. Thus, the elemental properties of a dragonborn's breath attack are not dependent on scale color. Scale color and type aside, Dragonborn are much larger and taller than most other humanoids. Their large bodies are also attributed to their draconic ancestry. They have incredibly muscular features. Some dragonborn have tails. Some have horns. And, rarely, some dragonborn have wings. Though, these additional features and appendages seem to be completely hereditary. Like humans, dragonborn vary in size, shape, hue, and personality; but, most seem to carry a pride about them. They are proud to be descendants of dragons and some construe this as arrogance. Dragonborn are capable of reproducing with their own species (regardless of scale color/ancestry) and half-dragons but no other species. Offspring from a dragonborn and half-dragon pair will always result in a half-dragon child. Dragonborn children and half-dragon children will carry a 50-50 chance of adopting one of their parent's ancestry and scale color visually. --- ### Species Traits #### Core Traits > [!custom-trait-locked]- 1️⃣ Ancestral Breath. > - As an attack, you may exhale magical energy in either a 15-foot Cone or a 30-foot long by 5-foot wide line.
