They come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and appearances. As with igira, some believe that pygmy were created by mæggen. Another similarity with igira is the belief that pygmy wandered across Yanis from The Plane of Elemental Earth as far back as 500 million years ago—during the late Iosis Phase of Proto Yanis. Though, there is a possibility that some earlier forms of pygmy could have existed as far back as the Xanthosis Phase—given the fact that they don't need air to survive and primarily consume earth, stone, and metals for nourishment. Despite having been around for so long, pygmy are incredibly reclusive and tend to mingle only with members of their species. Today, pygmy are **_very_** rarely seen in cities. --- ### Appearance & Biology Rocky, crystalline, or metallic, pygmy have outer shells that tend to be made up of earthy materials. They are smaller than most humanoids but have the ability to grow in size for long periods of time. Some crystal-core pygmy integrate crystals and gemstones into their outer shells for decorative and structural purposes. Similarly, ore-core pygmy line their outer shells with metallic ores. Because pygmy see gemstones and ores differently than other species and don't associate them with monetary value, they're occasionally hunted for the valuable gems and ores they acquire. Although they usually use standard earth, rock, gemstones, and metals to build their outer casings, they also see these materials as a source of nutrients and have been known to eat precious gems and gold coins as meals. Pygmy can speak Terran, and can understand other languages, but lack the vocal cords to speak languages other than Terran without magical means. They have incredibly dense and heavy bodies despite being smaller creatures and thus move slower and more loudly than most humanoids. Pygmy do not reproduce as most humanoids do. When they reach maturity, they become capable of cloning themselves. These clones are created with half a core and must be fused with another clone to form a new pygmy. ##### Crystal-Core Pygmy These pygmy have crystalline facets and gemstones integrated in their outer casings as well as inside their bodies. They can sometimes have innate magical properties due to the type of crystals ingrained in them. ##### Ore-Core Pygmy Ore-core pygmy can have metallic outer casings or chunks and shards of raw metal ingrained in their bodies. This makes ore-core pygmy incredibly tough and resilient but often causes them to be heavier than your average pygmy. --- ### Species Traits #### Core Traits > [!custom-trait-locked]- 1️⃣ Darkvision. > - Darkvision up to 60 feet. > [!custom-trait-locked]- 1️⃣ Breathless Nature. > - You don’t need to breathe. > [!custom-trait-locked]- 2️⃣ Terrestrial Transmogrifier. > - As many times equal to your proficiency bonus per long rest, as a bonus action, you may change your size smaller or larger (down to small or up to large).
