Sylphs have existed since the late Pavonis Phase or early Viriditas Phase of Yanis. Despite being younger than igira, pygmy, and undine, sylphs look much more humanoid and have integrated into humanoid societies much more easily than the other elemental humanoids. They are almost perfectly suited for survival in regions with difficult terrain—such as the mountainous and forest-laden lands of [[Vetti]]. In modern times, sylph are still reclusive when compared to other non-elemental humanoids; but, are seen in some cities and settlements more frequently than their elemental humanoid cousins. This might also be attributed to the fact that sylphs are much more mobile and naturally nomadic than the other three species. --- ### Appearance & Biology At first glance, one might mistake a sylph for an elf. The two species share similar ear structure, pointed facial features, tall elegant bodies, and graceful mannerisms and demeanor; but, at second glance, sylphs have several unique visual characteristics. For starters, sylph have feathers, down, and plumage growing from their bodies where species like humans, or felis grow hair. They tend to have incredibly long, pointed nails—almost claw-like—and their bone structure is much lighter than that of most other humanoid species. Additionally, and perhaps most notably, sylphs have massive wings on their backs and are capable of flying long distances with them. Finally, sylph have very complex eyes and vocal cords allowing them to see great distances and communicate via songs, or sequential sounds. Sylphs are only capable of reproducing with other sylphs. --- ### Sylph Races ##### Night-Flyer Sylph Night-flyers then to have larger eyes and smaller wings than your average sylph. Their bodies are also typically shorter and stockier.
