### Origin & History
Tiefling are the unfortunate byproduct of fiendish energy and influence on [[Agony]] dwelling humanoids. Similar to humanoids who evolved to be [[Aasimar|aasimar]] by their exposure to positive moral energy, tieflings evolved from humanoids who were exposed to the negative moral energy of Agony. Due to the endless depths of Agony, a variety of tieflings evolved to handle different environments. For example, devilish tieflings tend to be what people most often think of when they visualize the species; but, there are also demonic tieflings, who can look slightly more grotesque and disfigured—as some demons do.
---
### Appearance & Biology
All tieflings have horns, and long, pointed, black nails. No tieflings on Yanis have tails; though, this is a common misconception. As far as height goes, tieflings tend to lean on the taller side.
Tiefling can reproduce with most other humanoids.
##### Devilish Tiefling
Devilish tieflings look closer to cambions than their demonic counterparts. Though, they can sport qualities of different devilish creatures, like _abishai_, or _horned devils_.
##### Demonic Tiefling
As mentioned above, demonic tieflings can look closer to devilish tieflings when they have the traits of demons like _incubus_ or _succubus_; but, they can also look much more horrific and twisted when they have the visual characteristics of demons like _armanite_, _draegloth_, or _quasit_.
