They are naturally reclusive—like most endowed—but are perhaps perceived to be more reclusive than the others for the fact they reside in deep, underwater villages and towns. Undine are believed to have began inhabiting [[Yanis-Materia]] during the early Pavonis Phase of Proto Yanis. Today, undine are largely unheard of. They're mysterious and keep to the seas, rivers, and lakes. --- ### Appearance & Biology Undine skin color is usually blue but the hue, and value of blue ranges wildly. Undine who live near rivers and lakes often have green-blue pigments to help them blend in with their surroundings while deep-sea undine tend to have darker shades of blue skin. Also, it has been studied and confirmed that undine breath through their skin as well as their gills—especially when underwater. Skin color aside, undine universally have glassy black eyes and gills. The strange biology of the undine species isn't well understood by most other races. Undine are a hairless humanoid species but can occasionally grow whiskers (like that of catfish or koi fish). They have slightly webbed feet and hands and are much more capable of transitioning between terrestrial and aquatic life than [[Merfolk|merfolk]]. ##### Deep Sea Udine Far below the ocean's surface exists a specially adapted race of undine. They usually have darker skin and are more cold resistant than their reef and shore dwelling counterparts. Deep sea undine also tend to be vary in size—some much smaller and others much larger than typical undine. --- ### Species Traits #### Core Traits > [!custom-trait-locked]- 1️⃣ Aquatic Body. > - You can breathe air and water. > - You have a swimming speed of 30 feet. > - You know the _shape water_ cantrip and use the spell casting modifier of your primary class for it; or, constitution if your primary class isn't a spellcasting class. > [!custom-trait-locked]- ➖ 1️⃣ Cold Susceptibility. > - If you take cold damage, you partially freeze and your speed is reduced by half until the end of your next turn. > [!custom-trait-locked]- 1️⃣ Darkvision. > - Darkvision up to 60 feet. > [!custom-trait-locked]- 2️⃣ Noxious Resistance. > - Advantage on saving throws to avoid or end the [[Conditions#Poisoned|poisoned]] condition. > - Resistance [[Combat#Damage|acid]] and [[Combat#Damage|poison]] damage. #### Optional Traits > [!custom-trait-unlocked]- 1️⃣ Blend With Water. > - Gain a plus 10 bonus to stealth while submerged in water. > [!custom-trait-unlocked]- 2️⃣ Liquid Form. > - Advantage on saving throws to avoid or end the [[Conditions#Grappled|grappled]], [[Conditions#Paralyzed|paralyzed]], and [[Conditions#Petrified|petrified]] conditions. > - You may contort your body to fit through spaces as narrow as 1 foot wide. > [!custom-trait-unlocked]- 1️⃣ Subaquatic Survivalist. > - Proficiency medicine, nature, survival, or cook’s utensils. #### Deep Sea Udine Traits > [!custom-trait-unlocked]- 1️⃣ Cold Resistance. > - Resistance [[Combat#Damage|cold]] damage. > - Replaces **_Cold Susceptibility._** > [!custom-trait-locked]- 2️⃣ Superior Darkvision. > - Darkvision up to 120 feet. > - Replaces **_Darkvision._** %% ## Notes ### Name Options: %%
