### Origin & History
Damphir of Yanis are now considered a species of their own; but, in earlier ages, damphir were considered to be monsters or undead by most. Back then, some even considered damphir to be nothing more than vampires. Over many millennia, damphir have managed to gain some positive outlooks from small societies—though this progressive reception only exists in small pockets of the world.
It isn't clear where vampires first originated from in Yanis. Some say they are spawn from [[Agony]], others say vampires are the result of a powerful necrotic curse placed on humanoids by deities for their nefarious acts. Regardless of their origins, damphir are the product of vampires co-mingling with mortal humanoids.

### Appearance & Biology
Damphir often appear handsome and charming but these characteristics are largely due to the effects of the vampiric curse. The vampiric curse forces sharper facial features and pale skin.
The curse also causes damphir to grow fangs similar to those of vampires. Lastly, damphirs tend to have short pointed ears that are more curved than that of elves and gnomes.
Damphir cannot reproduce with any other species than their origin species—the species of their non-vampire ancestor. Damphir are incapable of passing along vampirism by biting victims—only true vampires are capable of doing so.
