### Origin & History
Lizardfolk are one of the earlier humanoid species to develop during the earliest periods of the Viriditas Age on Proto Yanis. They evolved parallel to [[Tortle|Šeldbacks]], during a time of constant peril and savagery. Lizardfolk adapted savage traits to cope and survive their harsh surroundings while Šeldbacks developed shells to endure and ignore them.
As Lizardfolk evolved, and other natural, native humanoids began popping up, their savage nature settled down. Though, lizardfolk are still plenty savage. It is theorized that this natural instinct to eat or be eaten may take tens of thousands of years to breed out of the species.
In any case, lizardfolk make up for their lack of charisma and emotional intelligence with their natural survival skills. They are excellent climbers and swimmers compared to most other humanoids and tend to be excellent rangers, naturalists, and explorers.

### Appearance & Biology
Lizardfolk come in as many varieties as do lizards, or lizard-like reptiles. Their scale color can range drastically—some even have color changing pigmentation in their scales. Lizardfolk also vary dramatically in frame size. Unlike catfolk, their builds aren't varied enough to constitute a separate racial classification; but, they can be slithery with qualities of a skink, or bulky with features of a komodo or monitor.
Lizardfolk, unlike dragonborn or kobolds, are cold blooded humanoids and suffer from colder climates—especially freezing temperatures.
Only lizardfolk can reproduce with other lizardfolk.
