# Spell Scroll (5th Level) > [!info] Item Details > | | | > |---|---| > | **Category** | Scrolls | > | **Rarity** | Rare | > | **Attunement** | No | > | **Arcana Check DC** | 15 | > | **Spell Attack Bonus** | +17 | > | **Source** | DMG p.200 | --- ## Description A spell scroll bears the words of a single spell, written in a mystical cipher. If the spell is on your class's spell list, you can read the scroll and cast its spell without providing any material components. Casting the spell follows the normal rules for spellcasting, and the spell uses the scroll's spell save DC and spell attack bonus. Once the spell is cast, the words on the scroll fade and the scroll crumbles to dust. If the spell is on your class's spell list but at a higher level than you can normally cast, you must make an Intelligence (Arcana) check (see DC below) to see if you understand it. On a failed check, the spell fails and the scroll is wasted. If the spell is not on your class's spell list, the scroll is unintelligible to you. --- ## Properties - Can be used by a creature whose class spell list includes the written spell. - Casting uses the scroll's save DC and spell attack bonus (+17). - Must make **DC 15 Intelligence (Arcana) check** to use if spell level exceeds your normal maximum. - Once cast, the scroll **crumbles to dust**. - Consumable.
