# Nolzur's Marvelous Pigments > [!info] Item Details > | | | > |---|---| > | **Category** | Wondrous Items | > | **Rarity** | Very Rare | > | **Attunement** | No | > | **Source** | DMG p.183 | --- ## Description Typically found in 1d4 pots in a fine wooden box with a brush, these pigments allow you to create three-dimensional objects by painting them in two dimensions. The time needed to paint an effect depends on the size of the area created. Creatures, plants, doors, pits, and other features can be created — the DM determines what is possible. Anything painted is a real physical object or effect. Painting a door on a wall creates a real door that can be opened. A painted pit is a real pit. A painted creature is an accurate representation but not a living creature. Each pot of pigment can cover 1,000 square feet of a surface, which takes 10 minutes per 10-foot square. --- ## Properties - Each pot covers **1,000 sq. ft.** of surface; painted objects are **real and physical**. - Can create doors, pits, bridges, walls, creatures (inanimate), vegetation, and other features. - Painting takes **10 minutes per 10-foot square**. - Consumable — no attunement required.
