Simple to produce, widely consumed. | | Meads & Ciders | Fermented honey- or fruit-based drinks that can carry alchemical or magical properties depending on ingredients used. | | Spirits & Distillates | High-proof, distilled liquors with potent and short-duration effects. Dangerous in excess; some grant brief physical enhancements. | | Potent Draughts | Specially brewed beverages that replicate potion-like effects. Rarer and more complex than standard brews; require uncommon ingredients. | | Tonics & Infusions | Lightly fermented or steeped health beverages that provide minor restorative or curative properties. | ### Ingredient Types | **Ingredients** | **Description** | | --- | --- | | 🞛 Malts & Concentrates | Processed grain malts, concentrated worts, or reduced fruit juices that form the fermentable base of any brew. Created from raw ingredients through kilning, mashing, or reduction. | | 🞚 Raw Ingredients | Whole grains, fresh fruits, honey, hops, and herbs. Found, grown, harvested, or purchased. The quality and freshness of raw ingredients directly affect the final product. | | 🞜 Cultures & Solutions | Yeast strains, fermentation starters, and water treatments. These must be balanced with precision — an incorrect culture or impure water can ruin an entire batch. | ### Creation Cost & Time | **Brewer Level** | **Creation Slots** | | --- | --- | | Level 0 –
Novice | 1 | | Level 1 –
Intermediate | 2 | | Level 2 –
Advanced | 3 | | Level 3 –
Superior | 4 | | Level 4 –
Master | 5 | All creation slots are utilized over an 8 hour period. | **Rarity** | **Brewing DC** | **Brewing Die** | **Slot Cost** | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Common | 10 | 1d4 | 1 | | Uncommon | 15 | 1d6 | 1 | | Rare | 20 | 1d8 | 2 | | Very Rare | 25 | 1d10 | 3 | | Legendary | 30 | 1d12 | 4 | ### Performing Brewing > [!faq]- Brewing Creation Example > To brew an ***Ironwood Stout***, a Rare draught that grants temporary hit points and resistance to cold damage, follow the steps below: > > **1. Gather ingredients** > The ingredients for an Ironwood Stout are: > 🞜 Glacial Brine Solution > 🞛 Dark Barley Malt Concentrate > 🞚 Ironbark Mushroom > For this example, we'll assume you have purchased the Glacial Brine Solution and sourced Ironbark Mushrooms from a local market. > > **2. Roll a brewing check to determine how well you perform the process.** > The DC is equal to... > *the rarity of the creation* — *your brewer level* — *your [[Abilities#Intelligence|Intelligence]] modifier* (minimum of 0) — *your proficiency bonus* (only if proficient with Brewer's Supplies) > - Upon success, you waste no ingredients and proceed at a normal pace. > - Upon [[#Failing A Brewing Check|failure]], you waste materials and proceed at a slower pace. > > **3. Create malt concentrate(s).** > In this case, you succeed and now need to prepare ***Dark Barley Malt Concentrate***, which costs 1d8 *Barley Grains* — *Intelligence modifier* (minimum of 0) per draught. > > **4. Add remaining ingredients.** > All other listed ingredients are consumed at a 1-to-1 ratio unless otherwise stated. > In this example, 1 Glacial Brine Solution and 1 Ironbark Mushroom are consumed. ### Failing A Brewing Check On a failed brewing check, roll a *brewing die* — *your brewer level* to see how many ingredients are lost (resulting in a minimum of 1). You must roll separately for both *malts & concentrates* and *raw ingredients*. For time wasted (resulting in a minimum of 1 hour), roll a *brewing die* — *your proficiency bonus* (only if you are proficient with Brewer's Supplies). ## Recipes Brewing recipes are closely guarded by master brewers and often passed down through guilds, families, or stolen from rivals.
