Each creature in that area must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes **3d8 cold damage** and becomes **restrained** by ice for 1 minute. On a successful save, a creature takes half as much damage and isn't restrained. A restrained creature can use its action to make a Strength (Athletics) check against your spell save DC. On a success, it breaks free. The ice also melts if the restrained creature takes any fire damage. --- ## At Higher Levels When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the damage increases by **1d8** for each slot level above 2nd.
