# Locations ## [[Yanis-Materia]] Yanis-Materia is the proper name for the material plane that divides the world of Yanis. Many cosmologists depict Yanis-Materia as a thin disk that intersects and separates the parallel dream planes, [[The Plane of Reverie]] and [[The Plane of Nightmares]], as well as the planes of morality, [[Agony]] and [[Euphoria]]. ## World Overview ### Realms of Yanis-Materia There are 14 realms spread across Yanis-Materia. Sand-swept empires and embattled city-states contend for dominance in the arid north and central regions, while the jungles of the far north and south teem with life both magical and monstrous. The continent’s geographic isolation—severed from Nor by the Fangs channel—has fostered cultures that thrive on ingenuity, resourcefulness, and resilience. The major nations across Fin are: - [[Gavva]] - [[Jaska]] - [[Jawara]] - [[Kiffa]] - [[Safiik]] #### [[Haelnir]] [![[Yanis Materia Continent Haelnir V01.png]]](Haelnir) A vast and frozen expanse at the bottom of the world, Haelnir is a place where survival itself is a heroic feat. The harsh climate, extreme isolation, and the ever-present dangers of ice and sea make it one of the most forbidding places on Yanis. However, beneath its icy surface lies a treasure trove of ancient relics, preserved ruins, and untold mysteries that lure adventurers and scholars alike—if they are willing to risk their lives to uncover them. There are no notable nations or territories documented across Haelnir. #### [[Ividel]] [![[Yanis Materia Continent Ividel V01.png]]](Ividel) Ividel is the northernmost continent on Yanis, comprised of three vast, isolated islands—Machweo, Jua, and Niji—spanning thousands of miles. With treacherous geography and harsh, arctic weather, Ividel fosters a resilient and deeply spiritual people whose lives are steeped in celestial worship and the quest to bring the Moon Goddesses back to the material plane. While much of Kaava is shrouded in mystery, its landscapes are as diverse as its legends, offering rich opportunities for exploration and adventure. The major nations across Kaava are: - [[Dòi Dào]] - [[Karosanya]] - [[Karunã]] - [[Khongkhvan]] - [[Saee Kaat]] - [[Surak Thikaava]] - [[Tejavikaa]] - [[Uncharted Wilds]] - [[Wat Mutti]] #### [[Lei-Sheng]] [![[Yanis Materia Continent Lei-Sheng V01.png]]](Lei-sheng) Lei-Sheng, the "Land of Harmony," is a land where ancient traditions, elemental forces, and mythological beings converge. The continent pulses with the power of its Leishengian crystals, amplifying not only the melodies of its people but also the storms and magical surges that shape its volatile environment. Lei-Sheng is a place of breathtaking beauty, divine struggles, and intricate social hierarchies which inspires people across the continent to create captivating songs, poetry, and stories. The major nations across Lei-sheng are: - [[Guàiwù]] - [[Huayuàn]] - [[Nànguò]] - [[Tiantáng]] - [[Xu Lun]] - [[Yáoyuan]] #### [[Lux]] [![[Yanis Materia Continent Lux V01.png]]](Lux) The Lux Region, known for its lunar worship, fierce matriarchal societies, and breathtaking geography, is one of the most mystical and enigmatic regions of Yanis. This triangular cluster of island subcontinents—Lumizzia, Lumisade, and Lumissol—encircles the Lunar Sea and is deeply intertwined with the celestial and astral forces of the world. Each island reflects its unique cultural heritage while sharing a profound connection to the moon, light, natural order, balance, and the divine. The major island territories across Lux are: - [[Lumisade]] - [[Lumissol]] - [[Lumizzia]] #### [[Nor]] [![[Yanis Materia Continent Nor V01.png]]](Nor) Once a beacon of unity and ingenuity, the continent of **Nor** now lies in ruin, a testament to the perils of ambition and division. Scarred by centuries of war, betrayal, and a cataclysmic event that reshaped its destiny, Nor is a barren, apocalyptic wasteland littered with remnants of its once-magnificent civilizations. It is a land where ancient mechanical sentinels roam, lost technologies hum with latent power, and the echoes of the past linger in desolate ruins. The major nations across Nor are: - [[Fernor]] - [[Haat Valor]] - [[Lhydmyrth]] - [[Urlyth]] - [[Qathür]] - [[Nüelich]] - [[Porat]] - [[Rasiila]] - [[Südlich]] - [[Üralt]] - [[Zükün]] #### [[Ra]] [![[Yanis Materia Continent Ra V02.png]]](Ra) Ra's geography is uniquely diverse, with each region home to one-of-a-kind ecosystems, cultures, and dangers. These lands are alien in both the fact they are largely untouched and underdeveloped; additionally, Yavel's plant life and nature seem very strange compared to the rest of Yanis. There are no notable nations or territories documented across Yavel. ## [[Yanis-Axia]] ### Planes of Yanis-Axia #### Dream Planes ##### [[The Plane of Nightmares]] or [[The Plane of Nightmares|Gloomlands]] [![[Yanis-Axia - Dream Plane - Nightmare V01.png]]](<The Plane of Nightmares>) It is believed that the Gloomlands has a direct link to the material plane inhabitants through their nightmares—hence the name, ‘Plane of Nightmares’. There hasn’t been a single documented survivor of travelers from the Plane of Nightmares, and so, many doubt it even exists. Most tell stories of it to scare children or to spook folks around campfires. Can one even imagine a place where only nightmares exist? ##### [[The Plane of Reverie]] or [[The Plane of Reverie|Vividlands]] [![[Yanis-Axia - Dream Plane - Reverie V01.png]]](<The Plane of Reverie>) In the Vividlands, creatures are more vibrant and expressive. Settings, weather, and even seemingly mundane objects react strongly to emotion and thought. Everything on this plane is expressive and constantly shifting. It is similar to the material plane but teeming with energy, color, and life. Time and space dilation is quite common here and can disorient extraplanar travelers easily. The name, ‘Plane of Reverie’ may sound like a pleasant place to visit but this plane—from the few who have survived and returned—is a dangerous place with very real and surreal hazards. #### Elemental Energy Planes ##### [[Myre]] [![[Yanis-Axia - Elemental Plane - Myre V01.png]]](<Myre>) ##### [[The Plane of Elemental Air]] [![[Yanis-Axia - Elemental Plane - Air V01.png]]](<The Plane of Elemental Air>) Major settlements across The Plane of Elemental Air are: - [[The City of Solid Air]] ##### [[The Plane of Elemental Earth]] [![[Yanis-Axia - Elemental Plane - Earth V01.png]]](<The Plane of Elemental Earth>) ##### [[The Plane of Elemental Fire]] [![[Yanis-Axia - Elemental Plane - Fire V01.png]]](<The Plane of Elemental Fire>) This elemental plane is particularly dangerous as it's primary composition is fire. The entire plane is essentially an ever expanding fireball constantly contorting and reinvigorating itself. There is rarely land to take foot or refuge on and the heat in this plane is constantly fluctuating. There are occasional masses that form due to collective lava piles cooling in areas of high pressure and low temperatures but they are rarely permanent or long-lasting. Travelling through The Plane of Elemental Fire is almost certain death for most [[Humanoids|humanoids]]. ##### [[The Plane of Elemental Water]] [![[Yanis-Axia - Elemental Plane - Water V01.png]]](<The Plane of Elemental Water>) As many would expect, The Plane of Elemental Water is largely... well, water. This plane has an interesting physiology. It is an endless sea ***or*** bottomless lake. The water salinity changes based on the needs of the organism. Temperature also fluctuates radically from place to place within this plane. Many humanoids struggle mentally to adapt to The Plane of Elemental Water as there isn't an up or a down—similar to The Plane of Elemental Air. Gravity is completely mixed up here and pressures from intense depths can sneak up on travelers if they're not careful. #### Spatial Planes and Expanses ##### [[Nether]] [![[Yanis-Axia - Spacial Plane - Nether V01.png]]](<Nether>) Similar to The Void, Nether is an ever expanding cloud of darkness. Despite there being old chunks of worlds long forgotten floating about with Nether, most of the plane is complete and utter darkness. Some of the most intelligent scholars in Yanis cannot understand this space and what its purpose is for. The darkness produced by Nether is said to be so potent that even the strongest light producing spells cannot penetrate it. ##### [[The Astral]] or [[The Astral|Astral Space]] [![[Yanis-Axia - Spacial Plane - The Astral V01.png]]](<The Astral>) It is argued that The Astral isn't a plane at all but rather a blanket or in-between space that envelopes other worlds. Though some believe this, The Astral is still accessible through extraplanar magic spells so the argument for both is valid. The Astral is a very strange and alien space that has unique physics and metaphysical properties. The plane is believed to be highly supernatural while, at the same time, is void of any spirituality. No deities are present in The Astral and thus, divine magic is not possible. One may venture through The Astral in their physical form or their astral form but both come with benefits and dangers. Adventurers should think long and hard before venturing in to Astral Space. ##### [[The Void]], [[The Void|Hollowlands]], or [[The Void|Pallidlands]] [![[Yanis-Axia - Spacial Plane - The Void V01.png]]](<The Void>) An unconfirmed plane tied to Yanis-Materia are the Hollowlands. This empty plane has been rumored by many cultures to be a prison for the soul. A place after life where one is cut off from reincarnation and interactions with higher powers. Some believe souls are carried here as a punishment for performing horrific acts during their life on Yanis. However, other cultures speak of the Hollowlands as a wonderful place. A place of complete and infinite peace. These cultures believe a soul can only achieve traveling to this plane by reaching enlightenment. #### Morality Planes ##### [[Agony]] [![[Yanis-Axia - Morality Plane - Agony V01.png]]](<Agony>) The plane of negative morality and evil. Agony is sometimes described as a bottomless pit. There are endless levels to this plane ultimately descending far beyond mortal comprehension. It is said the deeper the level of Agony, the more vile and sadistic. Devils and demons (collectively referred to as [[Fiends|fiends]]) both occupy agony, and are believed to have shared a common ancestor at one point, but are constantly fighting for control over the various levels. They worship gods ands and deities evil in nature who seek the undoing of everything good in Yanis. ##### [[Euphoria]] [![[Yanis-Axia - Morality Plane - Euphoria V01.png]]](<Euphoria>) The plane of positive morality and good. Many believe Euphoria to be the opposite of Agony—both in its physical appearance and its purpose. The plane is said to be an ever reaching mountain that penetrates an endless sky of which its peak is never seen. Angels and other [[Celestials|celestials]] populate the various cliffs and caves along the mountain's edge and serve all that is good and true. Euphoria sounds like a pleasant plane to visit but it is as complex and dangerous as Agony in many regards. ### Demi-Planes, In-Betweens & Pocket Dimensions ##### [[Feya (The Feywilds)]] #### Yanis-Yanima
